A few “no’s” can knock your confidence back, and in sales, well, we need it. If you’re new to sales and need to find your inner sales lion, or just need a pick-me-up, here are a few tips in this week’s Good Sales Stuff.  🦁

1. Prepare thoroughly

Know your product inside out. Lots of practice and anticipating every question your prospect might throw your way will help. Do your homework, conduct your research, and do some light LinkedIn research on your prospect. Good preparation will have you feeling more confident.

2. Remember past wins

Take a moment to reflect on your previous successes! Review deals you've closed or positive feedback you've received. Reminding yourself on how far you've came and what you’ve already achieved can help you rebuild confidence. Your inner lion is there.

3. Learn from you setback

Break it down objectively. Was it a timing issue, a mismatch in needs, or something you can control? Understanding the "why" can reduce emotional reactions and help you learn from the experience. Focus on what you can control, learn from it and let go of what you can't control.

4. Talk to your support system

Reach out to your manager or coworkers. They’ve likely been through the same ups and downs. A fresh perspective and some encouragement can do wonders for your morale.

5. Set small, achievable goals

After a confidence hit, set smaller, manageable targets to rebuild momentum. Whether it’s scheduling a certain number of calls or getting a follow-up meeting, small wins add up and get you feeling on track.

6. Visualise success

Picture yourself nailing that pitch or signing on the dotted line. It’s like giving your brain a preview of the good stuff—and trust us, your brain loves good stuff. ✨Manifestation✨ works wonders!

7. Stay persistent, not pushy

Confidence isn’t about being aggressive. It’s about knowing when to push and when to pull back. Stay respectful but don’t be afraid to send a follow-up or chaser email; decision-makers are often back-to-back in meetings.

8. Positive affirmations

Start your day by telling yourself, “I’ve got this!” Yess, it may sound cheesy, but a little self-praise goes a long way in setting the right tone for the day. Plus, if you’re feeling doubtful, research shows that affirmations can help you shift your mindset and achieve your goals. So yeh, it's backed up. Science.

5. It’s the small wins

9. It’s the small wins

Celebrate even the small wins. Closed a deal? Amazing! But even getting a callback or booking a demo deserves a mini celebration. Recognising these keeps the momentum going and creates a more positive atmosphere. 🥂

Sales comes with rejection, and that's okay. Each "no" is one step closer to a "yes." See each setback as a chance to refine your approach and grow. Building confidence after a knock takes time.

Oh and don’t forget a good breakfast—because hangry salespeople close zero deals. 😉

Now let's see your inner sales lion
