🎄 Sales the holiday slowdown 🎄

The holidays can be quiet, OOO replies are incoming, postponed decisions, and everyone is away. But the slowdown doesn’t have to mean a grind to a halt. (Sorry, not sorry. 😉)

The holiday season is here, and let’s face it: things can get…quiet. Many prospects are out of the office, inboxes are stuffed with auto-replies, and decision-making is often “postponed until the new year.” Or maybe you don't have enough holidays to take over the festive period. Well the holiday slowdown doesn’t have to mean a pause in productivity. (Sorry)

✨Instead of grinding to a halt, treat it as an opportunity. ✨

Use this week's Good Sales Stuff Newsletter as your To Do List. □ To keep you busy and motivated, you can use this time to prep for the new year.

The best feeling

1. Audit your pipeline

CRM and clean house:

□ Identify dormant opportunities: Are there deals that can be reignited with a friendly, value-driven touchpoint?

□ Close out lost deals: Don’t drag dead deals into the new year. Declutter your pipeline for clarity.

□ Write a list and prioritise high-value prospects: Focus on prospects with Q1 potential and start planning tailored outreach.

2. Revisit cold leads

The holidays are a great time to rekindle connections. A lighthearted, value-driven email can work wonders.

□ Send a holiday greeting: Keep it genuine and free of hard pitches.

□ Share relevant resources: Case studies, whitepapers, or product updates tailored to their interests.

□ Offer to reconnect: Propose a quick meeting in January to kick off the new year on the right foot.

Don't be this guy

3. Level up your skills

When the hustle slows, it’s the perfect time to sharpen your tools.

□ Read industry blogs: Stay ahead of trends and gather insights to use in your outreach.

□ Take a course: Platforms like LinkedIn Learning, YouTube or HubSpot Academy have excellent sales and negotiation courses.

□ Practice your pitch: Record yourself or role-play with a teammate to refine your delivery.

4. Prep for Q1

Set yourself up for success by planning ahead:

□ Research target accounts: Gather insights on your top prospects and their priorities for the new year.

□ Create templates: Draft email and call scripts tailored for January outreach.

□ Set goals: Define clear, actionable sales targets for Q1—and a plan to achieve them.

5. Strengthen relationships

Now’s the time to nurture both existing clients and colleagues:

□ Thank your clients: Send personalised holiday messages to express your appreciation.

□ Check in with your team: Collaborate on strategies or share tips to hit the ground running in January.

□ Network: Use LinkedIn to connect with prospects, comment on posts, and build visibility in your space.

6. Organise and refresh

A clutter-free workspace leads to a clutter-free mind. Use this downtime to:

□ Clean your inbox: Unsubscribe from irrelevant emails and organise folders.

□ Update your CRM: Ensure all notes, contact details, and deal stages are accurate.

□ Review your toolkit: Are there tools or apps you’re not fully utilising? Take time to explore features or request training.

7. Experiment with outreach

The quieter season is ideal for testing new approaches:

□ Try new email formats: Create a document of alternative shorter email subject lines. You can A/B test time in the new year.

□ Use video: Record quick, personalised messages to stand out in inboxes.

8. Celebrate wins and reflect

End the year on a high note:

□ Celebrate your achievements: Take a moment and write down what worked well this year. Take time to acknowledge your wins!

□ Reflect on challenges: And again, write a few down, and reflect on what could you improve in your process for next year.

9. Get organised

□ Prep some LinkedIn captions: Bulk write a few captions, you can schedule one a week to keep you active on LinkedIn when things pick up again!

□ Write thought leadership posts: Build your personal brand on LinkedIn by sharing useful content.

The holiday slowdown is ok, it's deserved you've worked hard!

So if you're working over the quiet holidays use this time to organise, and strategise and you'll be thriving in the new year.

So grab a cup of hot chocolate, put on your favourite holiday playlist, and start prepping for a successful 2025.

Until next week folks
